2020 Heart of Education Awards event cancelled. All finalists will still be acknowledged.
As COVID-19 continues to impact our community, it is with a very heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of this year’s Heart of Education Awards celebration event at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts on April 24. Since 2016, The Heart of Education Awards has seen tremendous community support for its red-carpet recognition of Clark County School District teachers who go above and beyond to put their students first. We all know that a great education starts with great educators, and we have been very proud to point our spotlight in their direction over these last few years.
Although we won’t be able to gather this year, we are pleased to inform you that we will be planning to recognize all the finalists for The Heart of Education Awards. We are also pleased to share that our panel of esteemed judges — including community leaders, education experts and event sponsors — has been able to select this year’s top 20 award winners, each of whom will still receive a cash gift of $5,000 and a medallion. Each winner’s school will also still receive $1,000 benefiting a school program of the winner’s choice. We will work with the CCSD and local health authorities to find the right time and manner to recognize all finalists and to present the awards to the winners.
All of us at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their involvement in this year’s Heart of Education Awards. While it’s unfortunate we won’t see a grand celebration on April 24, we will still salute those CCSD teachers who go above and beyond for their students, thanks to the support of our sponsors and the leadership and generosity of The Rogers Foundation. You have truly made a difference in your community.
Stay tuned for further updates. In the meantime, please stay safe, stay true to your calling and together we’ll get through this.
